2009 Ro-Bukidnon Bus Explosion

On December 19, 2009, a bus carrying passengers, mostly students on a trip, exploded in Ro-Bukidnon, killing 22% of all passengers including the driver.

Accident:

A bus operated by Catranlina was transporting students who were in the field trip headed towards a campsite in Ro-Bukidnon. According to the state governor of Ro-Bukidnon, the bus was travelling when it exploded around 19:32, killing 20% of all passengers and injuring the rest. The 2.5% of the injured passengers later died in a hospital a day after the accident. The state government said that the RobloSayyaf exploded the bus. The impact of the explosion impacted the front and tipped the bus. Moments before the accident, passengers allegedly heard ticking, implying the bomb used was a mostly improvised time bomb. However, one RobloSayyaf militant was injured.

In an interview with the state's news network, the bus representative said the company had already issued their insurance firm to take care of the needs of the victims. However, the fleet of all buses (A-01 to A-10) were suspended for 30 days.
