The 2008 Las Bloxias riots were a series of riots that took place between June 1 and June 12, 2008. They broke out after a group of factory workers protested against their low wages and demanded higher wages. However, riot police brutally suppressed the riots, resulting in 19 deaths. This became the deadliest riotous event until it was surpassed approximately eighteen years by the 2026 Las Bloxias bombing, which killed 192.
The course of events
June 1, 2008
For the first two hours, the riots were simply a peaceful strike. The protesters were then attacked by the police. In response, the protesters began to devastate the city. Workers from other factories joined in, over the next three hours, the number of protesters increased from 30 to 4,350. By the end of the day, there were already 30,000 protesters in 32 factories.
June 2-9, 2008
The following days were great. On June 3, 2008, the first striker, John Willerman, was killed. In "Bloody Wednesday", 15 strikers died.
June 10-11, 2008
On June 11, 2008, the last three strikers died. On June 12, at 12:00, the strikes finally ended.
Results
For employees
Employees would have higher wages and tightened regulations.
For the families of the victims
300,000 Robux were paid out equally to the victim's families.
For the police and municipal services
They tightened their procedures and hired additional riot control.
