Before the storm
Before the storm, several low-pressure systems 17 miles north of Jarison started forming and merged into a larger storm. On June 29th, 1998, the low-pressure system started moving south, growing in strength. It also managed to reach a small water body, Lake Jarison, which was 4 miles north of the city.
Before the flood
Lake Jarison had a major dam, the Bloxy Dam. It helped power the city and was over 30 meters tall. The storm had been over 25 miles per hour, causing slight flooding at the lake and its nearby campground. The camp was entirely flooded at 8 feet, and waters started to overflow the dam.
News warning
At around 12:48 PM, the local media attempted to warn the citizens of Jarison. However, nobody paid attention. This would be a grave mistake for the city, as the storm started moving into the north of the city. Shortly after it reached the city borders, the power department was destroyed by hail and lightning. The entire metropolitan area lost power within three seconds.
The flood
At 1:02 PM, the dam had completely burst from the storm, and 5 billion gallons of water was rushing towards the city. Waves of 25 feet smashed houses, drowned and killed Robloxians on impact, destroyed vehicles, and caused sewage backup. As the waves reached the downtown, the citizens that were unaware of the dam breach were killed or were spared at a shelter at the highest point of Jarison. A nearby oil facility caused oil to leak into the water, poisoning those who breathed/drank the water, and also polluted the land. The flood eventually reached the south of Jarison Valley. The only "drain" of the flood, was a large ditch in the west of the city, which drained the water to 8 feet. The waters slowly rose to 10 feet as heavy rain and hail rained down onto the city.
During the storm
Lightning struck a seven-story building, the tallest in the city (that did not have electrical rods/protection against lightning), causing its fourth floor to catch on fire, ultimately collapsing the other 3 floors. Fortunately, the building was closed to the public. People that survived the deadly flood found refuge at a local elementary school's gymnatorium. 80 percent of the metropolitan area was crowded inside the small gym, and it eventually turned into pandemonium as a small group of high schoolers attempted to block the exterior doors by lighting a fire (The outside of the gym was entirely flooded, the only entrance to the gym was flooded, trapping the citizens).
People in the gym argued about what to do, some thought they could use the mayor's helicopter, others decided to make a boat, however the most agreeable idea was to create a levee around the gym to prevent it from being entirely flooded. Eventually, after about an hour of working, the citizens stopped the gym from flooding by using 35000 pounds of manure (in bags) to block the exits/entrances until the flood dried out, and the storm passed.
End of the storm/flood
At 5:32 AM the next day, the flood had evaporated to around 2 feet, and the storm had passed and dissipated over the night. The people trapped in the gym took 30 minutes to remove the bags of manure, and eventually escaped. At what cost? Hundreds of buildings were irreparably water damaged, completely destroyed by the pressure/force of the initial flood/storm surge waves, and 5,000 people drowned or died in the storm. Hundreds more were injured, and the repair cost was in the billions.
How there happened to be 35000 pounds of bagged manure in an elementary school
A very rich and spoiled student at the school decided to hire 45 men to carry 700 bags of manure into the detention room as a 'prank'. The student got detention after that. Eventually, when people were deciding and discussing plans, the same student brought up the prank, and eventually people realized they could use the 700 bags of manure. Each bag had 50 pounds. This eventually became opinionized by the press as the funniest way to prevent a disaster that saved thousands of people.
