The 1992 Great Bloxington Island Earthquake was a 6.7 moment magnitude earthquake that struck in Bondi City, the first town in Bloxington Island, in 1992. It was not powerful to trigger tsunamis. This is the most felt earthquake in 1992 and the most felt in a Roblox scale. It was also the costliest earthquake in 1992. It took many Robloxians by surprise because earthquakes are rare on the island.

Pre-earthquake

Until 17 hours prior to the earthquake, the area was quiet. 11 hours prior to the earthquake, a tremor, a magnitude 1.7, impacted around 9 miles south of Bondi City. Much speculation went into this tremor as it was thought to have been a foreshock of an earthquake. This was the case. 1 hour later, another, slightly larger, tremor impacted the same area, with a magnitude of 2.8. Even more speculation went into this, as foreshocks, on average, increased in size and seismologists prayed this will be the main earthquake.

Bondi City issued an extra precaution warning for the city of Bondi City. 2-3 hours before the earthquake, 4 more tremors ranging between 2 and 3 struck in the same area. The Roblox Geological Survey (RGS) put the area surrounding Bondi City in "High" risk of a major earthquake. 1 hour before the earthquake, a non-significant magnitude 2.8 earthquake struck what will be known as Overlook Bay. Fortunately, no Robloxians are injured. 55 minutes before the earthquake, a 3.8 magnitude earthquake impacted, sending shaking all the way to what will be known as Summit City. 27 minutes before the earthquake, the area was quiet for the third time until 9 minutes before the earthquake, when a magnitude 4.7 earthquake impacted.

During earthquake

At an unknown date and time, the 6.7 magnitude earthquake struck violently. Despite the shaking not strong enough to trigger tsunamis, the shaking was strong enough to totally damage and wipe Bondi City off the map.

Post-earthquake

This tremor was followed by 139 aftershocks, with the second strongest, a 5.4 magnitude tremor occurring 54 seconds after the main shock. 88% were over magnitude 2, 15% were over magnitude 3, and the rest below 2. This earthquake, due to the extensive nature of it, also caused other, more local earthquakes, such as a 3.0 east of Bondi City, a 3.2 in what would be Overlook Bay, and a 2.5 offshore. No fires broke out near Bondi City due to its already totally damaged condition. The first strongest, a 5.8 magnitude tremor occurred later. Most of the aftershocks over magnitude 1.8 were between 4.3 to 6.3.

Since no Robloxians were willing to give out aid to help Bondi City recover from the earthquake, rebuilding Bondi City took a record-breaking 25 years. Bondi City was reopened in 2017.
