John McCain is a veteran and a Republican member of the United States Senate serving the state of Arizona alongside Hector Mendoza. McCain has served in the Senate from 1987 until his death in 2018. He ran for President in 2008.

In 2013, Congressman Frank Underwood hoarded tickets to the White House Correspondents Dinner, giving him control over seating arrangements, a power he used to leverage other members of the Legislative branch as well as the media. Underwood placed Senator McCain next to Conan O'Brien, much to the envy of White House Senior Advisor Valerie Jarrett. McCain was not happy with this arrangement, wanting to be placed next to a more mainstream television host as the Republican Party was attempting to appeal to younger voters. The senator begrudgingly agreed to the arrangement so long as Frank would not put Nancy Pelosi at his table who was consistently trying to friend him on Facebook.
