Tom Makepeace won the election.
The 2005 United Kingdom general election was held on Thursday 5 May 2005, to elect 651 members to the House of Commons. The election resulted in the ninth and final consecutive victory of the Conservative Party, and its first election under the leadership of Tom Makepeace.
The Conservatives won a landslide victory in the election which was viewed to be largely down to sympathy, as Makepeace's predecessor Francis Urquhart had been assassinated two years prior to the election. It is assumed that the Conservatives were defeated by Labour in 2010.
